Next Steps

OUR NEXT STEP
Pilot Plant – 2026
The pilot plant, backed by the Innovate UK Smart Grant and the Investor Partnerships Programme, marks the next major step in scaling our RiPR technology. Going live in summer 2026, the facility will allow us to validate hydrogen, biomethane and carbon dioxide production.
The programme includes continuous testing and independent verification by CPI, alongside industrial-scale feedstock trials that will generate the UK’s first chemical database for supercritical water reforming. This work will provide the technical, operational and commercial evidence needed to prepare RiPR for full deployment and to demonstrate its potential to turn waste into a reliable, low-cost clean energy source.
THE GOAL
Production – 2029
From 2029, we will move into full production of RiPR units, rolling them out from our manufacturing base in Eastington. With the successful completion of the current development phase, Wild Hydrogen is well positioned to meet the rising demand for sustainable, cost-effective energy solutions.
The next stage is the deployment of larger commercial systems, ranging from 1 MW to 25 MW, enabling us to serve a broader range of industrial, municipal and energy-sector needs. This transition from pilot to production will mark the moment RiPR begins delivering carbon-negative hydrogen and biomethane at scale, directly into the UK’s emerging clean energy infrastructure.

EXPLORATION
Wales & West Utilities
Wales and West Utilities are looking for solutions for a carbon-free future. We are actively working with them to explore how our technology can help them decarbonise the gas distribution network by 2050.
The journey ahead
The beginning
Mark, James and John met at their local coffee shop, united in their passion to tackle climate change.
Wild Hydrogen founded
Together, they founded Wild Hydrogen based on an idea that Mark had been musing on for many years.
Millie prototype
Millie was our first working prototype. It simply provided the proof of concept we needed.
Nano prototype
Our next step was Nano, which was similar in size to Millie but allowed us to begin to target specific performance.
Micro prototype
Taking a big step forward, Micro was substantially larger than its predecessors.
Mini prototype
Our largest prototype to date, Mini is the final step before we begin work on a commercial demonstrator.
Further investment
In March, we received another significant £1 million investment
Commercial demonstrator site acquired
Acquired our site in Gloucestershire; the next step is to achieve full planning permission.
Micro V2.0 is live
We’ve made significant upgrades to our Micro prototype, enhancing its capacity, automation, and safety features.
Third seed round
Aimed to raise £6 million in our third seed round.
Clean Super Power Award
Recognised as the winner of the prestigious Clean Superpower: Net Zero Award at the SETsquared Innovation Showcase
Partnerships with industrials
Partnership secured with Wales & West Utilities and SUEZ UK to explore the scale-up and deployment of our RiPR technology.
Series A raise
A raise of £20 million+ to support the build-out of our commercial demonstrator and accelerate the commercialisation of our RiPR technology.
Commercial units
Our aim is to have commercial RiPR units in place by 2028, initially beginning with smaller 5 MW units.
Initial Public Offering (IPO)
Our goal is to take the company public via an IPO by the end of this decade.
Collaboration
Impactful change can only happen through collaboration. Whether you are a research institution, a forward-thinking company, an investor, or an individual with a passion for sustainable energy, we want to hear from you.
